
While some growth factors are known to inhibit hair growth such as TGF beta, the majority of growth factors like platelet derived growth factor PDGF are essential to epidermis-follicle interaction and the dermal mechenchyme interaction required for hair canal formation and growth of the dermal mesenchyme. Additionally, vascular endothelial growth factor VEGF improves follicle visualization promoting hair growth and increases follicle and hair size.
