Benefits of PRP in Donor Sites

It has been objectively established that wounds, both acute and chronic, treated with PRP heal sooner, with less scar collagen and with a higher tensile strength. The goal in Hair Transplantation harvesting, Strip or FUE, is to decrease scaring and this study below demonstrates why PRP is advantageous when used in the donor site.

The above photo by (Carter et al, 2003) is a biopsy comparison of a wound, the left side is the non treated control side and the right side is the PRP treated side at day 79. Notice the bottom right PRP treated slide has a more orderly deposition of cells when compared to the bottom left non treated side demonstrating the above mentioned benefits.
